Posters for Parks launched its first show in 2016, and continues to highlight the beauty Minneapolis has to offer by partnering with local artists and designers. I was selected to be one of 43 to participate in the 2018 show. 50% of the profits go to People for Parks, and the other to the participating artists and designers. This poster features light copper foil on Mohawk Keaykolour Sequoia paper, all brought to life by the wonderful team at Studio on Fire. Linework abstractly depicts trees and water, with the star connecting back to our northern state. I love drawing animals, so icons of forest creatures are at the core of it all.
Posters for Parks 2021. I like the idea that the only difference between flowers and weeds is perception. Even though they get a bad reputation, there’s something really beautiful to me about dandelions and thistles, the plants I took inspiration from.
Artcrank: I took inspiration from parks that I frequent in Minneapolis for this piece. I love the hustle and bustle of people walking, running, and riding bikes, so I wanted to capture this and add a whimsical spin with the addition of the animals.
